Samsung announced SSD 840 EVO series solid states drives. The new SSD series make use of 10 nm 128 Gb NAND Flash memory and Samsung's multi-core controller. Samsung SSD 840 EVO are set to deliver a vast performance improvement over SSD 840 series drives, especially in sequential write speeds, as well as offer higher capacities of up to 1TB.
Samsung's new SSDs use Samsung 10 nm Toggle 2.0 TLC NAND memory and multi-core Samsung MEX memory controller. Sequential write performance is significantly increased using TurboWrite technology.
SSD 840 EVO 250GB model offers sequential write speeds of up to 520 MB/s while SSD 840 250GB was set at 240 MB/s. SSD 840 EVO 120GB model achieves 410 MB/s sequential write speeds, three times higher than SSD 840 120GB's 130 MB/s.
SSD 840 EVO 1TB, highest capacity model, delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 540 MB/s and 520 MB/s, respectively. Random read/write performance also got a boost, delivering up to 98000 IOPS and 90000 IOPS, respectively.
Samsung 840 EVO series consists of five capacities: 120GB, 250GB, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB. Samsung also mentioned reduction in capacity-induced performance differences, meaning that even lowest capacity models offer decent performance. Pricing ranges from 109.99$ to 649.99$, depending on capacity.
