The Verdict
Overall, in our real world tests OCZ Vector 256GB proved to be slightly faster than Samsung 830 256GB. Not by much, but still faster, which counts. OCZ Vector showed good real world performance throughout almost all tests, which shows that Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller can deal equally with any type of data. While performance is really good, 240€ price seems a bit too high considering that the likes of Plextor M5 Pro Extreme 256GB and Samsung 840 Pro 256GB can be found quite cheaper, even for around 200€. That said, 1.01€ price per GB is indeed too high. Acronis True Image HD license and 3.5" adapter included in Vector bundle add some value, but we'd rather have a simpler bundle for a lower price. Build quality of Vector seems pretty good. PCB is treated nicely and metal case makes this SSD physically more durable. During our testing we haven't encountered any stability issues, although we've seen reports of high failure rates coming in. Though OCZ backs up Vector's reliability by providing it with 5 year warranty.
Overall, Vector 256GB is a high performance solid state drive that will by any means suit any enthusiast needs, but high price premium makes it a bit hard to recommend it over similarly performing competitors.
