AMD launches Radeon R9 270 graphics card at sub-200 USD price point. Featuring Curacao graphics processing unit in PRO configuration, R9 270 boasts 1280 stream processors, 80 texture mounting units (TMUs) and 32 ROPs.
Card comes with 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at 1400 MHz (5600 MHz effective) clock and connected to GPU via 256-bit bus. GPU clock is set at 900 MHz base clock and 925 MHz boost clock. Going by these specifications, core clock is the only difference compared to R9 270X, which has GPU base and boost clocks of 1 GHz and 1050 MHz, respectively.
R9 270 has a TDP rating of 150 W, 30 W lower than that of R9 270X, and draws power from two 6-pin PEG connectors. AMD Radeon R9 270 is priced at 180 USD, and is available now. Custom models from brands such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, Club3D, VTX3D, PowerColor, Sapphire, HIS, XFX are already available as well. Certain models, such as Club3D's royalQueen comes with just a single power connector.
