The Verdict
The SilverStone Argon AR01 showed excellent performance in all three tests. Even at low fan speed it managed to outperform Prolimatech Panther - our previous leader in this price category. At high speeds it was 2-3°C more effective. The fan was very quiet using PWM control and fairly quiet running at 12V, although getting close to comfort zone threshold. Most importantly, fan speed had very little effect on cooling performance, which allows to use Argon AR01 at low fan speeds with low noise, while retaining excellent cooling performance. Furthermore, performance can be improved by adding a second optional fan.
Argon AR01 installation was very easy, especially because of hexagon knobs used to screw on top of holding bracket, instead of standard screws to screw inside. Antivibrational fan mounts give extra points - they're very easy to install even in a compact Mid-Tower case. Cooler supports all modern sockets - no sacrifices made here, despite coolers low price.
Having great performance, silent operation, easy installation, high compatibility and low price in mind we can most certainly recommend the SilverStone Argon AR01 to anyone looking for an excellent cooler under 35 EUR price tag.
