A Closer Look
Transcend SSD740 comes packaged in a thin light box. There are no specifications or features listed about the SSD itself. Drive is protected with foam and wrapped in antistatic bag. Bundle consists only of four screws and the SSD itself.
Externally SSD740 is very standard looking. It's a 2.5" drive of 7 mm height, which makes it ultrabook compatible. SSD has a plain black plastic casing.
Here's a closer look at the SSD's internals:
At its heart sits JMicron JMF667H controller. It's a four channel ARM-based controller with DRAM cache support and SATA III interface. Below the controller one Samsung DDR3 DRAM chip is placed for caching. Transcend SSD740 makes use of SanDisk's 19 nm MLC NAND memory in Synchronous configuration.
