The Verdict
- The Good
- Good performance
- Great price/performance ratio
- Supports all sockets
- Easy installation
- The Bad
- Could be quieter
- Second fan not PWM-controlled
- Incompatible with tall DIMM modules
Deepcool Frostwin V2.0 offers very good price and performance ratio. At a cost of just 40 USD or 30 EUR, Frostwin V2.0 shows thermal performance better than that of Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. C (with Ultra Sleek Vortex 14 fan). Noise levels are not too bad, but could be a few dBA lower. Cooler's build quality is generally good, although top fins did bend when removing fans. Neptwin didn't have this issue due to thicker fins. Frostwin's installation system is identical to Neptwin's, but the installation process is easier due to heatsink's smaller dimensions, specifically, lower width. Even though Frostwin V2.0 is smaller, it is still incompatible with tall memory modules with heatspreaders. Those using tall memory modules should look at single tower solutions instead. Other than that, Frostwin V2.0 is another good cooler from Deepcool positioned at a decent price point.
